Birth name: Dire Straits :)
Born: 1977
Dire Straits were a British rock band.
|
Dire Straits were a British rock band, formed by Mark Knopfler (vocals and lead guitar), his younger brother David Knopfler (rhythm guitar and vocals), John Illsley (bass guitar and vocals), and Pick Withers (drums and percussion), and managed by Ed Bicknell, active between 1977 and 1995. Although the band was formed in an era when punk rock was at the forefront, Dire Straits played a more conventional style, albeit with a stripped-down sound that appealed to audiences weary of the overproduced stadium rock of the 1970s. In their early days, Mark and David requested that pub owners turn down their sound so that patrons could converse while the band played, an indication of their unassuming demeanor. Despite this oddly self-effacing approach to rock and roll, Dire Straits soon became

Birth name: Modern Talking :)
Born: 1984
Modern Talking was a German Dance pop duo consisting of Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen
|
Genre-wise they were often classified under Europop. Modern Talking, who by sales are the most successful and popular group in Germany, have had number of hit singles reaching the top-5 in many countries. Some of their most popular and widely known singles are "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", "You Can Win If You Want", "Cheri Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie", "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)" and "Geronimo's Cadillac".
Their materials have been released over a period of two separate time tables, first between 1984-1987, then the duo found itself reunified in 1998 and made a successful comeback releasing another batch of materials between 1998-2003. Modern Talking's sound; however, was rather different from its original 80s sound after its reunion. The duo came back in 1998 recording their materials based on what the demand was in central European music markets at the time in late 90s, which required their original 80s mellow Europop sound to switch into 90s uptempo Eurodance.
